This site not only provides an overview of mental health history and its implications for Goodna but also explores the complex relationship between memory and history
There are stories we may never know, but this site uncovers the history, revealing the layers of understanding that form the foundation of the present.
It is done in a way that honours the patients, clients, and the people.

Asylum Deaths from 1860 to 1945
Records taken from Patient Case Notes at State Archives Qld. The hospital opened on 12th January 1865.
The patient’s death records, which have no location of burial, are listed as being buried at one of the three hospital cemeteries out of respect.
The following patient names are recorded from Patient Case Notes at the State Archives. To date, 14/01/2025, that is, case books A, B, and E. Coroner's Reports (Reports and No Reports), State Archives, All 25,910 pages. Also sourced from My Heritage.com, Trove Newspaper Articles and The 934 Theiss.
Due to there being NO OFFICIAL record of the Headstone to the patient's name, I have listed their deaths in order of recorded deaths.
